How-To: Install LAMP Server on Ubuntu 13.10 / 14.04

Below you will find a quick video and tutorial showing how to install a simple LAMP stack server on Ubuntu Linux 13.04 that includes Apache, MySQL, PHP & phpMyAdmin. At a certain part in the video I couldn’t save a file I had edited due to uninstalling my previous install of LAMP to create this guide, otherwise everything went smoothly.

The best way to approach following this tutorial is to watch the video and use the information below to copy and paste into a terminal window at the appropriate time.  If you have any questions please leave comments on the Youtube page.

Within Ubuntu use the hotkey Ctrl+Alt+T to open a terminal window.  Than, copy and paste the lines below individually into the prompt.  The video will show you what configuration windows open up and what answers to provide.  If you want to use this guide without the video tutorial, a general rule of thumb is simply to hit “next” or “yes” when prompted.
